Happy 4th of July Reader!
This year I went all out with my 4th of July mani (i.e. glitter explosion) and did a variation on a classic skittles mani, which I've become very fond of for holidays. First, I'll show you what I used;
For the bases of each nail, I used China Glaze Adventure Red-y (ring), which had a glitter accident a while ago (oops), White Out (thumb, middle, and pinky), and First Mate (index). As always, the white polish was streaky and challenging, but the other two are prime examples of China Glazes's perfect creams; super smooth, pigmented, and totally self leveling.
Next up we have the toppers! This was my first time using the glequins I received in June's Nail Art Society kit, and though it was far from perfect, I still really enjoyed the end result. Next up I layered the Julep's July 4th classic "America' over the white on my pinky and thumb. And finally, I used the gold star glitters I got from Sally's and my index and ring. You can't tell in this picture, but the star glitter pot actually has two types of glitter in it; the bigger stars you see, and also the little star punch-outs from the bigger stars. What a bonus!
Finally, after all that layering, i finished up with a coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter food and two coats of CND Super Shiny. The nail with big glitters on them weren't perfectly smooth, but they weren't rough enough to catch on anything, which is OK in my book!
Well reader, have a happy 4th of July! And as always, stay gorgeous!
XOXO
Gina
